After being turned back from entering Fort Rosecrans (bike race), my husband and I swung by Lake Kumeyaay on our way home. Happily met up with a number of other birding friends there, making it much more enjoyable.
Alas, saw no swallows at all.
Highlight was seeing (and photographing) 2 Virginia Rails
Also saw a number of Sora, a Belted Kingfisher, one Western Sandpiper, two Spotted Sandpiper, 3 Common Galinule, a Ruddy Duck and 3 Wrentit.
Warblers included 2 Wilson's and a number of Orange-crowned.
Live in beauty….
