Large flock of cowbirds at Santee Lakes
I birded Santee Lakes Tuesday morning and did not see any unusual or unexpected species. What was noteworthy was a large flock of Brown-headed Cowbirds all perched in one large, bare cottonwood at the south end of Lake 4. After a couple of tries, I got a count of at least 200 individuals.
