Calliope, nesting Vermilions
On Sunday morning, there was a male Calliope Hummingbird feeding in blooming bottlebrush near the east end of Dudley, east of Silver Gate, in residential Point Loma. There are now good numbers of blooming bottlebrush which should be good for hummingbirds around residential Point Loma and bordering the edge of Point Loma Nazarene University. Then again, there don't seem to be all that many hummingbirds around this spring, probably due to the widespread food available.
And on Monday morning, the pair of Vermilion Flycatchers in the southwest corner of the Mission Bay golf course are now feeding 3 just-out-of-the-nest fledglings, near the 12th green and the 11th tee.
