Purple Martin at Rangeland Road, Ramona and lots of swifts
I birded a few locations in East County Saturday morning September 28, 2019 and had one juvenile/female-type Purple Martin at Rangeland Road in Ramona. The bird was first seen being chased by a Barn Swallow near ground level. It quickly gained altitude and soon disappeared from sight. All dark above and pale below, with forked tail. Much largely than nearby Barn Swallow, but had similar swallow-style flight.
Also noted multiple Vaux's Swifts at Rangeland Road and Ramona Community Park, and a flock of approximately 150 at Lake Sutherland. Maybe the cloudy/rainy weather kept them close to the ground.
