Dusky Flycatcher – Laguna
This noon, Friday April 26, we encountered a singing Dusky Flycatcher along Desert View Rd in Mt Laguna. The bird was in exactly the same tree we found it in last year, and of course we eventually had three pairs along that piece of road last year. There was also a pair of Cassin’s Vireos that seemed to be on territory.
To reach this spot we parked st the Red Tail Roost parking area (you need to display the Adventure Pass). Walk across the street to the sign marked Thing Valley and wander down the road. Birds were 1/3 to 1/2 mile down the road.
No rush to see these birds since they will be nesting and numbers should increase.
A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song.
