New Eurasian Wigeon and Cackling Goose — Lake Henshaw
Performing a routine check of Lake Henshaw today (Feb 3rd) after spending the day birding at Salton Sea and discovered an adult male Eurasian Wigeon feeding among a group of American Wigeons in the grass at the eastern end of the lake. Several yards behind them was a large flock of Canada Geese and after scanning it with the scope discovered a Cackling Goose among them with distinct white neck ring. Both birds were observed with a scope from the paved pullout on Hwy 76 near the emergency call box at 4:00pm this afternoon.
